OUR MISSION

American Democracy Watch is dedicated to analyzing threats to democratic institutions, exposing concentrations of power, and promoting a more accountable and resilient political system.

We approach politics through a political science lens, prioritizing evidence, institutional analysis, and democratic integrity over partisan branding. This includes confronting patterns widely recognized by scholars as indicators of democratic backsliding—such as voter suppression, institutional erosion, political violence, and disinformation.

At the same time, we recognize that democratic decline does not occur in isolation. It is often reinforced by economic inequality, corporate influence, and structural imbalances that concentrate power in the hands of a few. Addressing these conditions is central to any serious effort to strengthen democracy.

American Democracy Watch is not only a publication, but an evolving platform for public engagement. In addition to original analysis, contributors are invited to submit articles, perspectives, and research for review and publication. The goal is to create a space where informed discussion, disagreement, and critical thinking can take place openly and constructively.
We believe that defending democracy requires more than opposition—it requires participation. Accountability, transparency, and public dialogue are essential to building a system that reflects the will of the many rather than the power of the few.
